Danica exists since 2002 and focuses on promotion and defense of human and minority rights.
We started organizing activities which support those who need help with identification documents and birth registry. We also help with kindergarten, elementary and high school enrollment. We have been actively promoting rights of Roma women in Pančevo and surrounding villages.
We also cover women’s health topics, fight against family violence and early marriage, mostly through workshops.
We support girls in their educational journey and we fight to lower drop-out rates. We succeeded in helping 3 girls escape early marriage and return back to education. About 20 Roma girls from our county entered high school.
During the Month of Roma Women’s Activism, we gather women of local Pančevo communities.
We participated in planning and writing of the Local Action Plan for Improvement of Roma Women’s Status, together with sister organizations from Roma Women Network: Roma Center Bibija from Belgrade and Women Space from Niš.
We are members of Roma Women Network Banat, together with Roma Society of Novi Bečej and Romnjako Ilo from Zrenjanin. We are also member of Women In Black and Women Against Violence.
