Center for Roma Women’s Rights, Niš

Our Roma women’s organization was founded in 2005. Our mission is strengthening of Roma women’s position in society.

We fight against human trafficking. We participate in projects: Networking against human trafficking in Western Balkans, and Fight against human trafficking in Roma communities and schools of Niš.

We are focused on Roma communities of Stočni Trg, Belgrade, and Red Star in Niš, as well as high schools in the city. We work on education and bringing attention about human trafficking to various city officials.

Since 2010, our organization cooperates and serves as a contact organization in Serbia for European Center for Rights of Roma from Budapest. We gather field information and monitor media reports on Roma people. We also keep a close contact with other human rights organizations, as well as lawmakers and attorneys that help with court cases.

We have participated in monitoring of two of the largest forced evictions or Roma in Belgrade – Gazela and Belvil. We participate in writing of shadow reports using international convention.
